Why they are essential for energy, metabolism and regeneration

Micronutrients: Is Your Body Well Supplied?

Fatigue, exhaustion, inner restlessness or reduced resilience are often attributed to stress, lack of sleep or a demanding everyday life. Yet sometimes it is worth taking a closer look at what the body needs on a daily basis: vitamins, minerals, trace elements and essential fatty acids.

These micronutrients are involved in numerous processes in the body — from energy production, immune function and inflammation regulation to muscle function, cell metabolism, hormonal balance and regeneration. When important resources are lacking or stores are depleted, this can manifest in different ways: through fatigue, susceptibility to infections, difficulty concentrating, muscle weakness, inner restlessness or reduced resilience.

At the Original Mayr Medical Resort, a comprehensive blood analysis provides valuable insights into how well your body is supplied with micronutrients and where targeted support may be beneficial. This is also where orthomolecular medicine comes in: not with blanket supplementation, but with a diagnostically grounded understanding of what the body actually needs.

What Blood Values Can Reveal

From our experience with patients, we see time and again that persistent fatigue, inner restlessness or reduced resilience are often linked to measurable factors. These may include low vitamin D levels, reduced iron stores, an imbalanced blood sugar metabolism or an insufficient supply of important micronutrients.

Particularly informative are markers such as CRP, liver and metabolic values, blood sugar and insulin levels, iron status, vitamin D, B vitamins, magnesium, other micronutrients and thyroid values. They can provide indications of whether the body is burdened by inflammatory processes, whether the metabolism is working steadily, whether important nutrients are lacking or whether hormonal regulatory processes are influencing energy, drive and wellbeing.

Special attention is also given to blood sugar and insulin metabolism. Insulin plays a key role in allowing glucose to move from the blood into the cells, where it can be used as energy. If the cells become less sensitive to insulin, this is referred to as insulin resistance. The body then often has to produce more insulin to keep blood sugar stable — a process that can place long-term strain on the metabolism and may be associated with fatigue, cravings, weight gain or reduced performance.

Why Their Interaction Matters

Vitamin D, K2 and Magnesium

Vitamin D is a good example of why micronutrients should not be considered in isolation. It is important not only for bone health, but also for immune function, muscle function, cell metabolism, glucose metabolism and inflammation regulation. However, for vitamin D to exert its effects in the body, various factors need to work together.

Magnesium is also important in this context. It supports numerous enzymatic processes, including energy production, muscle and nerve function, and blood sugar regulation. At the same time, magnesium is closely connected to vitamin D metabolism. Especially when vitamin D is supplemented in a targeted way, it can therefore be useful to also consider magnesium status.

Vitamin D is often used together with vitamin K2, as both play an important role in calcium metabolism. Nevertheless, supplementation should always be individually assessed and medically guided — especially if medication is already being taken or specific health considerations are present. What matters is not one individual laboratory value, but the interplay between different parameters. Only when assessed in the broader medical context of medical history, symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle and clinical examination does a more precise picture emerge.

From Precise Diagnostics to a Personal Health Concept

At the Original Mayr Medical Resort, a comprehensive blood analysis is included in both medical programmes: Gut Health & Detox and Diagnostic & Prevention. The results help our doctors better understand your individual starting point and derive a personalised medical concept from it.

Based on these results, concrete recommendations can be developed — for example regarding nutrition, targeted supplementation, infusion therapies, movement, regeneration or further therapeutic measures. The aim is not to take as many supplements as possible, but to provide targeted support where the body truly needs it.

Diagnostics are complemented by Mayr Cuisine: our easily digestible nutritional concept, which relieves the digestive tract and supports the body’s regeneration. After all, digestion, metabolism and nutrient absorption are closely linked to energy, the immune system and overall wellbeing.

Mindful movement, regenerative therapies, rest and mental balance create additional space to support the body sustainably and develop new routines for everyday life.

More Energy Begins with Understanding

Anyone who feels tired, exhausted, internally restless or less resilient over a longer period of time often needs more than a short break. Medical diagnostics can help to better understand the underlying causes and make visible what often remains hidden in everyday life.

At the Original Mayr Medical Resort, we combine precise diagnostics with medical care, Mayr Cuisine, regeneration, movement and mental balance — for greater stability, energy and long-term wellbeing.

Sometimes new vitality begins where it becomes clear what the body is lacking — and how it can be supported in a targeted way.
